چکیده
Abstract The timing and processes of ductile deformation metasomatism can be documented using apatite petrochronology. We integrated microstructural, U-Pb, geochemical analyses grains from an exhumed mylonitic shear zone in the St. Barthélémy Massif, Pyrenees, France, to understand how are recorded by U-Pb dates patterns. Electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) documents crystal plastic characterized low-angle boundaries (<5°) associated with dislocation creep evidence multiple slip systems. Laser ablation–inductively coupled plasma–mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) maps indicate that deformed reflect, governed by, boundaries. Apatite rare earth element (REE) behavior is decoupled high-grade gneiss samples, suggesting REEs record higher-temperature than isotopic (ultra)mylonitic portions showed metasomatism, youngest constrain age metasomatism. Collectively, these results demonstrate microstructures fluid interactions markedly change signatures, making single-grain petrochronology a powerful tool for dating characterizing latest major and/or events, which often not captured chronometers.

Deformation induced grain rotations in single crystal tantalum
Validation studies of crystal plasticity fi nite element models typically compare model predictions of strain fi elds withexperimental measurements; often ignored are the grain rotations predicted by the model. Accurate predictions ofcrystallographic rotations are necessary for trustworthy predictions of strain fi elds, deformed texture, and failure. This is especially important ...
متن کاملCharacterization and Investigation of Grain Selection in Spiral Grain Selectors during Casting Single-Crystal Turbine Blades
Manufactured single crystal components using Ni-base super alloys are routinely used in the hot sections of aero engines and industrial gas turbines due to their outstanding high temperature strength, toughness and resistance to degradation in corrosive and oxidative environments. To control the quality of the single crystal turbine blades, particular attention has been paid to grain selection,...
متن کاملEvolution of recorded microstructures in minerals during cooling of Zarrin intrusion, evidence for dynamic deformation
The Zarrin granitoids is located in the west of Yazd block, Central Iran. Zarrin granitoids exhibit mylonitic rocks ranging from protomylonitic to mylontic. In Zarrin granitoids examples of sub-magmatic, microstructures are represented by chessboard patterns in quartz and sub-magmatic fractures in plagioclase, indicating deformation at high-temperature conditions (T > 650º C) and the presence o...

متن کاملDeformation of grain boundaries in polar ice
– The ice microstructure (grain boundaries) is a key feature used to study ice evolution and to investigate past climatic changes. We studied a deep ice core, in Dome Concordia, Antarctica, which records past mechanical deformations. We measured a “texture tensor” which characterizes the pattern geometry and reveals local heterogeneities of deformation along the core. These results question key...
